Après une année 2008 qui se positionne comme l’année des records d’observations Ovni au niveau mondial (notamment au Canada et en Grande Bretagne), Les Italiens posent de plus en plus de questions quant à ce qui se manifeste dans leurs cieux. Depuis 2001 les forces aériennes ont catalogué 38 cas non expliqués dont 3 ( 1 observés par les forces armées avec corrélation radar) pour l’année 2008.

Selon le Groupe de recherche en ufologie, les Canadiens ont vu à travers le pays un nombre record d'objets volants non identifiés en 2008.
