I saw yellow UFO

Tim Behan, who is in his late 30s, said he saw the object from his veranda, which has a good view over Gosford, at about 10.40pm.

He was phoning a friend in Melbourne at the time and his attention focused on the unknown object.

Mr Behan, a Sydney television station master controller, discounted the chance that the object could have been an aircraft because its light was not blinking.

Instead, he said, the object emitted a consistent bright glow as it changed direction and headed south.

"My perception was that it was a relatively small point of light, by far the brightest object in the sky, and I watched it for about 30 seconds before it went from view," he said.

"I immediately rang a colleague to tell him what I'd seen and he said it could have been a Blackhawk helicopter which had been doing exercises around Gosford that day.

"But a helicopter would have had blinking lights this one didn't," he said.

"When I first noticed this object it was going up then it changed direction."

Mr Behan said he phoned Gosford police to ask if there had been any similar sightings but there was none.

"At times I watch satellites and space stations go across the sky but this wasn't a satellite."

The secretary of the UFO and Paranormal Research Society of Australia, which recently held a conference in Gosford, Dominic McNamara, said he had not received any similar reports.
